The Future

1. People 100 years ago believed that we would have invented flying cars by year 2k. They thought that by this time learning would be nothing more than plugging up electrodes to the brain. They thought that all of the roofs of the houses would have solar power roofs. Fifty years ago people expected astronauts to go to the moon. People were also expected to be taller, tanks were thought to be invented, and the letters c,x, and q wouldn't be featured in the every day alphabet anymore. Also people thought mobile telephones would be around. Flight in all senses of the word was very wanted. People thought there would be robotic barbers as well.

2. List one is a wish list of hopeful inventions that would come about in the next fifty years. List number two is fairly unbiased, as it is only a list of what a scientist expected the world to look like at the turn of the new century. List three is an obvious wish list. With each of the photos there is a very positive outlook on what the future will hold. List four is unbiased as well, simply offering predictions of the future, with no obvious positive or negative outlook visible.

3. Some predictions that came true were that astronauts would go to the moon, that humans would be taller than they were in the 19th century, some houses do in fact have solar roofs, and tanks are invented. However, we still do not have flying cars around the streets, also the letters c,x, and q are still on the keyboard, and learning still doesn't involve electrodes.

4. People are very focused on flight. Also, people seem to really harp on the extending of learning, some others were also focused on war, but the majority of ideas of the future had a very positive connotation.

5. I believe that the future will be a dark place. The amount of money spent on going to college will not be worth it and people will opt out of furthering their education. People will lose their desire to turn into doctors because their is no point because they could have the same wage doing a different job with much less work involved. The world will lack specialized labor in most lower class circles causing a class divide where the lower class is completely at the will of the elites. There will be an uprising and a split in the nation. The only way to stop this is to allow the government to be small, allow the people to govern themselves, and put someone into power who knows how to not get involved.

6. I think that, as individuals in a society of over 300 million, we don't have much control over our future. The future will be decided by a select number of families who has their own agendas and means of accomplishing them. There are a select number of groups who control the government of not only this country, but also the ones around it. I think that in the future we need to shine light on the corruption that is running rampant through this government in order to change it. I think that we need to allow the individual to have power once more. I think that if we want to have any hope of fixing everything that we have ruined in this beautiful country it has to start with a complete clean sweep.
